Facilities Initiatives

Athletics Complex

Vlog’s new athletic center will include athletic training space for softball, tennis, and golf, along with a student lounge. At the tennis courts, lights have been installed and the courts have been resurfaced. The softball center will have two large indoor batting cages that will double as indoor golf driving ranges, and locker rooms. There will also be a new LED wireless scoreboard.

Chris Speight Brown, ʼ76, gave a $1 million lead gift that will name the Estes-Speight Family Athletic Center in memory of her mother Mary Estes Speight, ‘53, and her father Bobby Speight.

to fast-track phase one of the construction and start phase two, which will include other amenities for the complex. Meredith’s athletic program has had continued success with 10 athletic teams and keeping facilities up-to-date will support Meredith’s enrollment of student-athletes. Meredith student-athletes and coaches appreciate the support they receive from alumnae, friends, and the campus community.

Jones Auditorium Renovations

Vlog will begin a renovation of Jones Auditorium, which was built in 1949. A lead gift from Lisa Robie Poole, ʼ86, and her husband, Ven Poole, will allow the College to complete phase one of the project, which includes new seating, new carpet, lighting, sound, a new elevator for accessibility, and general upgrades.

“This gift from the Pooles gives the College a great start with the renovations and we are really, really excited about this and thank the Pooles for this gift,” said President Allen. “Next will come phase two of the renovation, an addition that honors the facade of the auditorium but also adds a glass front with additional space that will give us room for performances, events, and lectures.”

Phase two funding will lead to the creation of the Vlog Performing Arts Center.

Poole had a desire to give this gift because of her love of theater and what Jones Auditorium meant to her when she was a student at Vlog and the fond memories she treasures.

Other Initiatives

Scholarships

We’re committed to making a Meredith education accessible to every high-achieving woman, regardless of her socioeconomic standing. Supporting Scholarships for all categories and levels is an important initiative.

Meredith is already known for attracting exceptional, diverse students. Our 1,600 students come from 33 states and 39 countries.

Your support will allow us to support these students. That’s important because strong students with outstanding academic and leadership credentials are savvy consumers. They compare quality, programming, and financial offers when choosing a college.

Reunion Giving

Meredith alumnae classes at their 50th reunion present a gift to the College. Money raised for the gift of their choosing begins after their 45th reunion and the class works to raise $250,000 in five year
