Performing Arts Camp Held in August
- Published
During the week of August 14, a Performing Arts Camp was held in Weatherspoon Gym and the Gaddy-Hamrick Art building for students in grades K-5. These 18 campers were either children or grandchildren of Meredith faculty and staff and took classes in Art, Dance, Music, and Theatre.Â
Adjunct professors Dr. Becky Bailey, Cindy Carbone, and Cathy Rodgers, along with retired WCPSS Music teacher and Meredith alumna Christian Rothwell, taught classes each day in their respective disciplines. They were assisted by four current Meredith students, Hannah Cox, Andrea Dula, Annalee Nelson, and Anna Prince, who are seeking licensure in Art, Dance, and Theatre. Â
On Friday afternoon, at the end of camp, there was a sharing session for families and friends, followed by refreshments. The theme was “Heroes” so each of the three groups presented their creative production ideas about animal and everyday heroes, sports figures, and historical characters.
