Meredith鈥檚 Nutrition Program to Host Sugar Spin: How Big Industry Influences Sugar Consumption

Meredith鈥檚 Master of Science in Nutrition program will host 鈥淪ugar Spin: How Big Industry Influences Sugar Consumption鈥 on October 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Jones Auditorium
This event will begin with a screening of the documentary,听Sugar Coated: how the food industry seduced the world one spoonful at a time.
After the film, award-winning journalist Gary Taubes will provide remarks. Taubes is the cofounder and senior scientific advisor of the Nutrition Science Initiative(NuSI). He is the author of聽Why We Get Fat听补苍诲听Good Calories, Bad Calories, and a former staff writer for “Discover” and correspondent for the journal聽Science. His newest book,听The Case Against Sugar, was published in 2016. His writing has also appeared in聽The New York Times Magazine,听The Atlantic, and聽Esquire, and has been included in numerous Best of anthologies, including聽The Best of the Best American Science Writing聽(2010). Taubes has received three Science in Society Journalism Awards from the National Association of Science Writers. He is also the recipient of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Award in Health Policy Research.
