Meredith Students Present at Taste of Research Event

On Nov. 4, 糖心Vlog鈥檚 Undergraduate Research Program held its Taste of Research event for the first time since the pandemic.聽

鈥淲e brought back Taste of Research because it鈥檚 an opportunity to celebrate students and their work,鈥 said Director of Undergraduate Research Whitney Ross Manzo. 鈥淚t also shows the campus community what the Program is about. A lot of people think that research has to be done in a lab with chemicals but it can be done for history, language, or any subject.鈥

Located in the Carlyle Campbell Library, the event consisted of three oral and seven poster presentations. Research topics included Abracadabra! Using Magic to Create Flashbulb Memories; Extraction, Spectral Characterization, and Chromatographic Analysis of Passion Flower Components; House mice (Mus musculus) T-haplotype detection and fieldwork in sex-biased enclosures.

鈥淢y experience with research has helped me develop skills like writing an abstract and communicating with professionals,鈥 said Erandi Garcia Vazquez, 鈥26, who is studying biology and chemistry. 鈥淚 was able to work with graduate students and professors and perform hands-on activities with them instead of observing.鈥澛
