Meredith I-O Psychology Represented at BIOP Conference

A current student and a recent alumna of Meredith鈥檚 Industrial-Organizational Psychology Master of Arts program recently attended the inaugural 2024 Annual Conference in Atlanta.聽

BIOP is a professional networking and learning non-profit for Black I/O psychologists, practitioners, and students, and supportive allies.聽

Attending from Meredith were first-year student Madissen Keys and 2023 graduate Akshata Malur.聽聽

Jenna McChesney, Assistant Professor, I-O Psychology, spearheaded Meredith鈥檚 Supporter Sponsorship for this year鈥檚 conference in Atlanta. The I-O Psych faculty and staff team was grateful for the opportunity to support the conference and to have those students/alums experience amazing presentations, networking, and more.

Keys appreciated the opportunity to attend the conference.

鈥淕oing to BIOP was a very fulfilling experience because not only did I feel like I was able to have open and honest conversations with peers, but I also learned so much about the different ways DEI can be incorporated into the field of I-O psychology from practitioners and academics,鈥 Keys said. 鈥淚 enjoyed and took something away from every single session I attended, and I wish I could have gone to all of them if I could!鈥

Keys recommends the conference to others in I-O psychology.聽

鈥淥verall, I would recommend going to BIOP for anyone interested in connecting with professionals who want to truly make a difference,鈥 she said.

Malur called the opportunity an unforgettable experience.

“I had the chance to listen to experts on various topics such as leadership development, selection practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. More importantly, I was able to make connections with current I-O students, professors, and practitioners through networking events. I made genuine meaningful connections with my fellow attendees,鈥 Malur said.聽

She also recommends the conference to others.

鈥淭he resources, information, and content I was able to absorb have left a lasting impression on me,鈥 Malur said. 鈥淚 highly recommend this organization, any future conferences and events to all who have an interest in I-O psychology, regardless of what stage you are on your journey. I’m proud to be an ally of Black professionals in I-O.鈥
