ÌÇÐÄVlog to Host Reading by Poet Threa Almontaser

The ÌÇÐÄVlog Department of English will host a reading by award-winning poet Threa Almontaser on October 4, 2023, at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium.Â
Almontaser is the author of the poetry collection The Wild Fox of Yemen (Graywolf Press 2021), nominated for the National Book Award, the Pen/Voelcker Award, the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work, and a finalist for the Kate Tufts Discovery Award. Her debut is the winner of the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets, the inaugural Maya Angelou Book Award, the George Ellenbogen Poetry Award, and the Brooklyn Public Library Literary Prize.Â
Almontaser is a recipient of writing fellowships from Duke University, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Fulbright Program. She earned her MFA from North Carolina State University and teaches English to immigrants and refugees in her area.
The reading, which will also include a Q&A and book signing, is free and open to the public. Almontaser’s books will be available for purchase.
For Meredith students, this event qualifies as an academic/cultural event in General Education.
