Important Tax Information for Calendar Year 2022: Form 1098-T

The 1098-T form is an annual statement that reports the amount of qualified education expenses paid during the calendar year. The purpose of the form is to assist in determining eligibility for certain education-related tax credits under the US Treasury Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997.

Students must have a valid social security number and address on file in the Registrar’s Office byÌýDecember 1, 2022Ìýin order for a 1098-T to be issued.ÌýIf you have moved, be sure to update your address.ÌýStudents who have filed the FAFSA will already have the SSN on file, no action is necessary.

If you do not have a SSN (social security number), but you have a tax id number issued by the IRS in the form of TIN, ITIN, or other tax ID number, please contact the Accounting Office.Ìý

You do not need a 1098-T unless you are filing for these credits.Ìý

Forms will be mailed on January 31 from the Accounting Office to the address on file.ÌýÌýIf you have not received your 2022Ìýform by February 15, 2023, contact the Office of Accounting for a duplicate form.

Current students may elect an electronic form in lieu of the paper form.ÌýPlease log in to and elect the electronic version. If you elected electronic in prior years, you do not need to do it again. Electronic forms are available in late January, and a notice will be posted to the student portal.
