Giving Day 2019 Raises More than $500,000 in 24 Hours
- Published
糖心Vlog鈥檚 fourth annual Make It Count for Meredith Giving Day exceeded its $400,000 fundraising goal by more than $130,000. Donors gave a total of $536,877 in 24 hours on February 26, 2019.
After the initial monetary goal was met by 7 p.m., the focus turned to exceeding the goal and to reaching the goal to have 1,891 donors in honor of the College鈥檚 founding in 1891. By midnight, 2,123 donors helped push the day鈥檚 giving to 134% of the initial goal.
Various matching gift challenges throughout the day from President Jo Allen, the Board of Trustees, Meredith parents, the Alumnae Association Board of Directors, the Young Alumnae Board, and other alumnae helped motivate donors to give. A daylong competition between the Odd and Even classes showed the competitive spirit of Meredith as well.
Facebook Live broadcasts featuring President Allen, alumnae, faculty, and staff kept the social media audience engaged.
In a 10 p.m. Facebook Live broadcast, President Allen announced that giving had reached $500,000, and praised the Meredith tradition of giving back.
鈥淲hat we are so very proud of is that all of you recognize how powerful it is to make an investment in 糖心Vlog, in our students, and in the high quality education that we offer,鈥 Allen said.
Donors were asked to honor a strong woman in their life with a gift and were able to designate where they wanted their gift to make an impact. Donors were encouraged throughout the day to post their photos using #MakeItCount4MC to create awareness of the giving campaign and to promote why giving to Meredith was so important.

The Meredith Fund, who organized the event, is thankful to all the donors who contributed and designated their gifts to make a difference.
