In this issue, we celebrate the accomplishments of faculty and staff in business, dean of students office, disability services, economics, learning center, president鈥檚 office, and technology services. We also share news about credit card use at the Copy Center and Mail Center.听

糖心Vlog President Jo Allen, 鈥�80, is featured on a recent episode of Leaders on Leadership, a podcast focused on stories and insights in higher education. Allen鈥檚 episode was released on July 6, 2021.

Assistant Director for Disability Services Carolyn Koning, Instructional Design Specialist Stacy Muse, and Instructional Technology Specialist Stephanie Ashby recently earned the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate focuses on essential practices and tools designed to increase employee diversity and to create a business model that embraces equity and inclusion. The seven-week program, created in partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Jabil, focuses on ways for organizations to create diverse workplaces, address equity issues, and foster inclusivity.听

Instructor of Economics Lyliana Gayoso de Ervin recently co-authored an article, 鈥淩evealed comparative advantages and human capital: a diagnosis of the workforce in Paraguay 2017,鈥� in the journal Poblaci贸n y Desarrollo.

Assistant Professor of Marketing Lisa Monahan and Professor of Accounting Mary Jane Lenard have had a manuscript accepted at Accounting & Taxation. This publication is based upon a 2018 honors thesis by their former student, Morgan Daly, who is the first author as noted in the citation: Daly, Morgan, Mary Jane Lenard, and Lisa Monahan (forthcoming), 鈥淭o Spend or Not to Spend: An Investigation of Consumer Behaviors Related to Tax Refunds,鈥� Accounting and Taxation.

Assistant Professor of Accounting Brian Routh and his co-authors had their research, 鈥淭he Stability of the U.S. Commercial Banks During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Impacts and Implications from Regulator and Management Decisions,鈥� published in Accountancy Business and the Public Interest.听

Assistant Dean of Students Tomecca Sloane and Director of the Learning Center Tina Romanelli presented their initial research project, 鈥淐ultural Humility Training for Tutors and Student Workers,鈥� at the virtual SECLCA (Southeastern College Learning Center Association Conference) on June 3. The research builds upon the work of Melanie Touvelone and Jann Murray Garcia who coined the term “cultural humility” to help train medical professionals and Kimberl茅 Crenshaw, a lawyer who coined the term “intersectionality.” Sloane and Romanelli plan to continue this work in the upcoming year.

Credit Cards Now Accepted at Mail Center and Copy Center
As of July 1, Meredith鈥檚 Mail Center and Copy Center are able to accept credit cards. With a successful soft launch, both Centers are ready to accept credit cards for postage and copy services. Departments are encouraged to continue to use their department codes for College mailing and copying needs. Credit card use will be for any personal services such as purchasing stamps or mailing supplies.听听听
