For their senior gift, the Class of 2018 has chosen to do something a little different this year. The class has decided to support a unique gift to future Meredith Angels in the form of a new fund. The Traditions Fund provides opportunities for future students to participate in traditions and events in which they may not have been able to take part. This fund was聽established聽by Student Leadership and Service in tandem with the Young Alumnae Board. The聽Class of 2018 and young alumnae of the College are kickstarting this initiative.

鈥淭raditions are such a big part of the Meredith experience,鈥� Class Gift Tri-Chair Meg Sink, 鈥�18, said. 鈥淣ot everyone has the means to participate, so this fund will go to 50 students to help them participate fully in Meredith traditions.鈥�

This fund is an opportunity for whoever wants to give聽towards traditions to contribute.

鈥淚 remember how fun events like Cornhuskin鈥� and Stunt were and how it brought our class together in a way nothing else could,鈥� said Sink. 鈥淲hen we talked about our class gift it was so great to be able to give to a fund for students to take part in these.鈥�

The class of 2018 is hoping to meet a goal of 聽$2,018 before graduation.

The Class Gift Tri-Chairs Amy Burke, 鈥�18, Lauren Patton, 鈥�18, and Sink were chosen to lead this effort because of 聽their participation in the phone-a-thon throughout their college journey. They have been involved in giving back to the Meredith community for a long time and were eager to continue doing so.

鈥淲e can continue to fundraise after graduation, and to give聽as long as traditions continue. If any current student, parent, or alumna wants to give, please do,鈥� said Sink. 鈥淲e will see students actively participating in traditions when they may not have been able to before, and that鈥檚 the best gift we can give our future sisters.鈥�
