A book launch will be held for Assistant Professor of English Jayme Ringleb鈥檚 debut collection of poems, So Tall It Ends in Heaven, at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 p.m.
The collection is being published by Tin House Books. Poems from So Tall It Ends in Heaven have appeared recently in Poetry, Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast, and Ploughshares.
From the book description:
鈥淲ith lush and deeply intimate language, Jayme Ringleb鈥檚 debut collection So Tall It Ends in Heaven explores sexuality, estrangement, and the distances we travel for love. The poems search for answers across the United States and Europe, in and out of historical imagination, as the speaker struggles to separate their understanding of devotion and belonging from the constant losses in their life. Drawing from鈥攁nd subverting鈥攖he formal traditions of love poems, parables, and elegies, the collection claims a vital space for one’s own solace.鈥
Ringleb will be reading poems from the book and then having a short conversation about the book with the poet Ina Cari帽o, a 2022 Whiting Award winner with an MFA in creative writing from North Carolina State University.聽
Ringleb holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University, an MFA from the University of Oregon, and an MBA from the University of Iowa.聽
The event is free to attend. Entry is free.
