Katie Holland

When聽Katie Holland, 鈥16,聽started an internship with Credit Suisse after her junior year, little did she know it would end with a job offer. A double major in聽business administration聽and聽economics聽with a minor in聽finance, Katie started聽work in July 2016 as an operations analyst for the global financial services company.

鈥淭hrough my internship, I was able to apply concepts learned within my business classes and gain invaluable hands-on experience in a real-world environment. The most important thing I gained was a huge boost in my confidence. It gave me the necessary push out of my comfort zone and solidified what Meredith has been teaching me since I first got here 鈥 that I am a strong and capable individual who can do anything I set my mind to.鈥

In addition to the internship program, Katie cites the Business School鈥檚聽Career Tool Kit聽and the services provided by the聽Office of Career Planning (OCP)聽as valuable resources that helped shape her path as an aspiring business professional.

鈥淭he Career Tool Kit gave me a leg up when it came time to interview for my internship with Credit Suisse. Additionally, the resume and mock interview services offered by OCP were vital to me obtaining the confidence needed to step out of my comfort zone and go into my interviews feeling self-assured.鈥

Katie belongs to four honor societies: Kappa Nu Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Omicron Delta Epsilon. She is Vice President of Omicron Delta Epsilon and a member of the Meredith Accounting and Finance Association. Katie received the Excellence Award in Economics in spring 2016. She also has enjoyed Meredith traditions like Fire & Water Dinner and Tea for Two.

Above all, Katie says, relationships with faculty mentors have had a huge impact on her experience.

鈥淗ad it not been for the advice, feedback, and suggestions I have received from my professors and faculty advisors, I honestly don’t think I would be where I am today. They push us to be the very best we can be, but they do so lovingly, as would a friend or parent. It’s that level of commitment and care that makes Meredith so special.鈥
