Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences Research Labs

°Õ³ó±ðÌýHealth and Human Performance Lab, located in Meredith’s newly built Communication and Health, Exercise and Sport Sciences Building (CHESS), features cutting-edge equipment to prepare students for employment and graduate programs. The lab also helps support community members in their health and wellness goals. Students are able to use the lab for their undergraduate research as well.

The lab provides early access to research and clinical practices, with the goal to inspire health, exercise and sport sciences students to become researchers and practitioners in a field of study in which women are traditionally underrepresented.

The Health and Human Performance Lab is dedicated to assisting athletes, health practitioners, and anyone in the community looking to establish a baseline or measure their progress in lifestyle modification, performance, or fitness goals. Services offered include BOD POD testing, Resting Metabolic Rate testing, and Max VO2 testing.

Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences students have the opportunity to gain clinical experience in the field. The course, ESS 486: Exercise Prescription, allows HESS seniors to build upon all they have learned to prepare them for their upcoming internship, practicum, or next step in their career path. Students learn how to train individuals who have health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, orthopedic conditions, and metabolic disorders.
