Matthew Poslusny joined Meredith’s executive leadership team in 2013, bringing extensive experience in academic administration and as a faculty member.
He is the first person to serve as senior vice president and provost at Meredith. In this role, he oversees Meredith’s academic division, including four schools (Arts and Humanities; Business; Education, Health and Human Sciences; and Natural and Mathematical Sciences), and the College’s enrollment management offices.
During his tenure as Meredith’s first senior vice president and provost, Poslusny has overseen the creation and launch of several successful new undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate programs. He also established an Office of Retention and Student Success, enhanced freshmen retention rates and led an effort to expand support for adult students.
Prior to arriving at Meredith, Poslusny served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Widener University for eight years. During his final year, he also served as the Dean of the Common Student Experience. Previous administrative positions included chair of the Morris Harvey Division of Arts and Sciences, co-chair of the department of natural sciences and mathematics, and the Maier Endowed Chair of Environmental Science, all at the University of Charleston. He also served as the chemistry department chair at Marist College.
Poslusny has over twenty-five years of teaching experience, teaching a wide range of courses including General Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Introduction to Environmental Issues, Frankenstein and Science in the Romantic Era, Critical Thinking in Baseball, and History of Science.
A teacher and faculty member at heart, he has taught a chemistry course each fall during his time as senior vice president and provost.
Throughout his career, Poslusny has been published in both higher education and scientific journals including the Journal of Faculty Development, PURM, The Journal of Applied Spectroscopy and American Environmental Laboratory.
Most recently, he has shared expertise he’s gleaned from overseeing academics and enrollment in articles published in and magazine.
Academic Credentials
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Texas. Dissertation focused on examining organic emissions from burning a mixture of coal and refuse-derived fuel.
B.S. in chemistry from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce)
A.S. in physical science from the County College of Morris (Morris County, NJ).
