Profile

Mark Gass was a software developer and development manager for over thirty years. Most of that time was in SAS R&D, where he initially worked on the SAS/C compiler. Most recently, he was the Senior Director overseeing development of the parallel analytics server in the SAS Viya analytics platform.

His specialties include programming languages, distributed software, operating systems, parallel programming, software engineering, cloud computing, and AI/machine learning frameworks.

He retired from SAS in 2020 to begin a second career – contributing to computer science education in North Carolina.
