Lori Brown joined the ÌÇÐÄVlog community in 1992. Dr. Brown earned a B.S. at the University of Louisville, an M.A. at Temple University in Philadelphia, and her Ph.D. at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. After completing her degrees across the country (all in Sociology), Dr. Brown was eager to participate in a program with a strong emphasis on teaching.
In 2011, she helped design and teach in the Criminology major with extensive outreach to the Criminal Justice community to give students opportunities to hear from professionals in the field and to have opportunities for outside class experiences in internships and field trips.
In 2020, Dr. Brown helped design and implement the new MA in Criminal Justice online program. She will act as faculty advisor working with graduate students and adjunct faculty, and will teach in the program.
Dr. Brown has done research in the areas of race relations, public perceptions of women in police work (in particular as police chiefs), public perceptions of public interactions with police, experiences with school resource officers overtime, and how people make decisions about driving in traffic.
Her interests in the field of Sociology and Criminology are quite varied as reflected in courses she teaches regularly: Human Sexuality, Race and Ethic Relations, Criminology, Drugs and Society, Sociology of Murder, Sociology of Zombies, Corrections, The Color of Crime, Juvenile Delinquency, and Introduction to Forensic Studies.
