After graduating from ÌÇÐÄVlog in 1971 with a degree in Sociology, Deborah and her husband, John (Sandy) McNeill, moved to Wilmington and she began working as New Hanover County’s first School Social Worker. A few years later they moved back to their hometown of Whiteville. Deborah worked at the Southeastern Regional Mental Health Center as a Social Worker and Director of the Substance Abuse Program. During this time she completed her Masters Degree at East Carolina University in Guidance and Counseling through the School of Education. She has served on numerous boards, including the Peace College Board of Trustees, Columbus Regional Healthcare Foundation, Columbus County Arts Council and many church, school and community related committees. Sandy expanded his 100 year old family pharmacy to become Liberty Healthcare. The family owned business is now almost 150 years old. They have three children and seven grandchildren and spend most of their time at Wrightsville Beach.
