Profile
Brooke Shurer oversees study abroad programming and the Meredith in Italy site in Sansepolcro, as well as support and advocacy for international students at Meredith. During college, she spent a semester abroad in Italy, which was easily the best decision of her college career. She has also worked in Wales and has traveled abroad widely (with many places still to explore!). Her dissertation research explored the impact of pre-departure expectations on study abroad students’ academic, social, and cultural adjustment.
An international educator for nearly 20 years, Dr. Shurer has previously worked in study abroad offices at UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State University, and Emory University. She has also served on advisory boards for study abroad provider organizations and presents regularly at local and national international education conferences.
Dr. Shurer’s first job in international education was at Meredith’s Office of International Programs, where she interned as an undergraduate student. She was thrilled to return to her first professional home in 2013 and loves being a member of the Meredith community!
