The focus of the marketing function is to help an organization create satisfied customers in a profitable way. Marketing is a highly dynamic discipline that thrives on change – changes in customer attitudes, purchasing behaviors, demographics; industries and competitors; technology; the economy; methods of distribution; and our society and culture. It is the driving force in building and sustaining meaningful and valuable customer relationships, creating and developing new markets, building differentiated brands, and creating successful public and private enterprises. Students interested in a career in marketing should major in business administration and complete a concentration in marketing. Successful marketing professionals must have analytic and communication skills combined with substantial knowledge of modern marketing practices.
