Our Bachelor’s in Art Education
The bachelor’s degree in art education is designed for students who wish to teach art as a profession. Students will develop teaching skills and a strong theoretical background within the art content area.
Meredith offers an enriching and supportive environment that will encourage your artistic and intellectual growth. You’ll learn to function creatively, develop a broader worldview, and gain the professional skills needed to succeed as an art educator.
Art Education Programs
Arts Education Major
The Bachelor of Arts in Art Education requires students to complete 89 credit hours. Students take art, education, and psychology courses.Ìý
The curriculum includes art techniques and movements, issues and trends in art education, the development of skills for teaching in a diverse population, and the infusion of technology into instruction.
The K-12 Art Education teacher licensure program provides learning experiences to meet the needs, capabilities, and interests of K-12 students studying art. The program is designed to assist individuals in acquiring knowledge and developing skills and dispositions within a learning environment focused on active involvement and integrated learning activities.
Requirements
To complete the teacher education program and earn licensure in art education for grades K-12, students must complete the requirements for general education and their chosen major.
Students must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program to enroll.

This spring, the Frankie G. Weems Gallery is featuring the work of individual artists who represent current and recent faculty and staff members at ÌÇÐÄVlog. The exhibition is on view from January 25 through March 10, 2024.
Jessica Stair, Ph.D., will present the 2023 Mercer-Kesler Lecture on Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m. in Kresge Auditorium. Stair’s presentation is titled “The Scent of Perfection: Flowers and the Senses in Monjas Muertas.â€Ìý
